Apology From Tim Jones Head of Communications At St George's Healthcare NHS Trust
15th
January 2004
Mr Ian Perkin Worcester Park Dear Mr Perkin, I
am writing in response to your email to Peter Homa dated 8 January, regarding a
phrase I used in an email to a journalist we are both acquainted with. The
phrase in question was: “You
may be interested to know that as part of our response to Mr. Perkin’s
allegations, the Trust’s Nursing Director wrote to all A&E staff.” I
understand that it was not you who originally made these allegations. You were
clearly raising them on behalf of an anonymous member of staff. I would like to
apologise for any offence caused by this incorrect ascription, but hope you will
recognise that it was a question of verbal shorthand rather than malice or
misunderstanding. I
have not repeated this untrue statement to any other third parties and will not
repeat it in the future. Yours
sincerely Tim
